(8/16) The Cacahuetes complete the repeat.  After a 10-7 victory in game 4, the triumphant Cacahuetes are again crowned champions of the Sheboygan Wiffleball League.  Jon Friedl picks up the 3rd and final win of the series after pitching a 6 hitter.  He allowed 7 runs along-side 15 walks.  Aubrey Kooistra hit his 8th and 9th playoff homeruns and drove in five runs.

(8/15)  Upon request, Saturday's World Series games will be delayed until noon and 1:30 instead of 11am and 12:15 pm.

(8/8) No Wiffle Saturday August 9th.  Games 4 and 5 (if needed) will be Saturday August 16th instead.  11 am and 12:15 pm.

(8/6)  Game 3 of the World Series reached the top of the 5th inning when the storm hit.  Heavy downpour and lightning forced the post-ponement.  Play was not resumed and the game will be final.  Game four which was scheduled to follow game three is in the process of being rescheduled -- more than likely to be on Saturday.

World Series Game 3 (final after 4 inn):  Pirates 2, Cacahuetes 5
Summary :  W- A Kooistra     L- N Dreifuerst

(8/5)  The opening World Series game Tuesday night was nothing less than expected.  The Cacahuetes jumped on top in the early-goings but the Pirates keep chasing and eventually took the lead.  The Pirates kept a 12-10 lead heading into the bottom of the 7th when the Cacahuetes switched on their run-producing machine.  Jon Friedl hit a walk-off grand slam homerun to right field off of Nick Dreifuerst to win the game for the Cacahuetes 16-12, however due to a rule-violation the Cacahuetes forfeited game 1.  Cacahuete pitcher Jon Friedl pitched 7 complete innings when he was only eligible for 6.  All game stats will count, but the team victory will go to the Pirates.

World Series Game 1:  Pirates 12,  Cacahuetes 16
Summary :   W- J Friedl      L- A Nyenhuis
Forfeit: Cacahuetes    Pirates lead series 1 to 0.

In the second game of the World Series double-header there was nothing but excitement as well as a tad bit of saltiness and the darkness approached.  But all-in-all the game was fairly close.  The Pirates took a 6-5 lead into the 6th inning when the Cacahuetes rallied for 5 runs behind the homeruns of Dan Planton and Aubrey Kooistra.  They then added one more in the top of the 7th to ice the game 11-6.  Innings pitched were monitored a bit closer in this game after the huge impact it had in game one.

World Series Game 2:  Cacahuetes 11,  Pirates 6
Summary :  W- A Kooistra     L- A Nyenhuis
Series tied 1-1.

(7/29) The Pirates run-rule a short-handed T-bone 24-14 after 5 innings.  They will advance to the World Series next week Tuesday.  The Game was close for a while until the Pirates split it open in the bottom of the 3rd, scoring 15 runs.  Christopher Hemsing of T-Bone set a Playoff record, hitting four HR in this game.

Playoff Game 5  T-Bone 14, Pirates 24
Summary :  W- N Dreifuerst (1-1)    L- C Hemsing (1-2)

(7/26)  What appeared to be a day of threatening weather turned out to be nothing more than a fantastic day of wiffle.  Rain did fall, but not enough to postpone or delay any of the action.

The Cacahuetes clinched a World Series berth behind solid pitching performances by Jon Friedl and Aubrey Kooistra, each pitching complete games and allowing three runs.  Run production for the Cacahuetes gave them 10-3 and 9-3 victories over the 4th seeded MPNW.

Playoff Game 2   MPNW 3, Cacahuetes 10
Summary :   W- J Friedl (1-0)     L- T Wilson (0-1)
Playoff Game 4   Cacahuetes 9,  MPNW 3
Summary :   W- A Kooistra (1-0)     L- T Murray (0-1)

The Pirates got rocked in game 1 but did the rocking in their second game of their series vs. T-Bone.  T-Bone put up 23 runs without slugger Brian Schultz who had hit 15 HRs on the season.  It appeared that Pirate's pitcher Nick Dreifuerst overwhelming throwing accuracy only resulted in too many hits to handle as T-Bone out-hit the Pirates in game one, 30 to 7.

The Pirates bounced back in game two of the series however putting up 27 runs in a five-inning run-rule, 27-6.  Game three of the best of three series will be played on Tuesday July 29th at 5:15pm.

Playoff Game 1   T-Bone 23,  Pirates 6

Playoff Game 3   Pirates 27,  T-Bone 6
Summary :   W- P Planton (1-0)    L- C Hemsing (1-1)

(7/23)  The regular season concludes with another close game that took nearly 2 hours to complete.  T-Bone managed to pull off the victory 11-10 after 7 long and grueling innings.  Reliever Brian Schultz picks up the victory and closer Jon Lampe picks up his third save of the season.  Schultz also hit two homeruns (15) in this game which lands him in second place behind Aubrey Kooistra (18) for the homerun title this year.

Game 23 T-Bone 11, Pirates 10
Summary:  W- B Schultz (5-2)    L- A Nyenhuis (3-1)
Sv- J Lampe (3)

The Cacahuetes were also forced to forfeit their final game of the season due to a shortage of players.  This is their first ever forfeit in 2 seasons, and only the second forfeit in the league for the 2003 season.

(7/22) A three man Cacahuetes team rallied behind the bat of Aubrey Kooistra to run-rule the MPNW 17-6 after five innings.  Kooistra hit 3 HR to bring his season total to 18.

Game 28  MPNW 3,   Pirates 7
Summary :  W- N Dreifuerst      L- T Murray

(7/21) If there was ever a day to post K's on fence in left field, today was the day.  In an intense strike-out battle, MPNW starter Tony Gollhardt out-duels T-Bone starter Brian Schultz with 14 pitching strike-outs to Brian's 13, however the result of the game went the other way.  Schultz picked up his 4th victory of the season defeating the MPNW 5-2.  Jon Lampe also picked up his league-leading, second save.

Schultz was the main offensive force for T-Bone as well, going 7 for 8 with 4 RBI and 2 HR (1 in-the-park).

(7/15) T-Bone forfeited their early game on Tuesday vs. the Cacahuetes, and their late game Tuesday will be pushed back until the 23rd.  The Cacahuetes then played their July 23rd game vs. the Pirates instead.

Cacahuetes' starter Aubrey Kooistra was a little shaky on the mound.  He gave up 8 runs in the bottom of the 3rd before being pulled for reliever Andy Prisland, who wasn't able to pull off a come from behind victory despite pitching 4 innings of scoreless wiffleball.  Four of the 8 runs in the 3rd inning rally were off of a Jake Planton Grand Slam.  Adam Nyenhuis picked up his 3rd victory and Aubrey Kooista his second loss.  Nyenhuis struck out his 5th batter to end the game in the top of the 7th with the go-ahead run at the plate.  Aubrey did manage to keep up his homerun pace, hitting a solo-shot  in the top of the 6th.

Game 29 Cacahuetes 7, Pirates 8
Summary:  W- A Nyenhuis (3-0)    L- A Kooistra (1-2)

(7/12)  Saturday began with a thriller.  T-Bone, down 5 runs in the bottom of the seventh pulls it to within one run on a J Lampe 3-run HR.  T-Bone again puts men on base for B-Schultz who struck out for the final out.  This strike-out was also the record setting 12th strike-out in the game for pitcher Nick Dreifuerst.

Another record was tied by Matt Planton who hit 4 homeruns in this game, which had only been previously done by Cacahuete slugger Aubrey Kooistra.  Matt looks to carry his homerun hitting power into next weekend with the homerun derby approaching.

Game 8 Pirates 10, T-Bone 9
Summary :  W- N Dreifuerst (3-2)   L- T Lubach (0-1)

In the 2nd game on Saturday, a weakened Pirate pitching staff and 3 solid innings pitched by Cacahuete Jon Friedl led to a 3 inning, 23-3 run-rule.  Dan Planton hit a record setting 2 Grand Slams in one inning and went 4 for 5 driving in 9 runs.  Andy Prisland also broke out of his hitting slump this season going 5 for 6 with 2 HR.

In the nightcap MPNW again struggled to put up runs.  The Pirates got the best of them in an extremely close game.  The Pirates were in position to pick up a complete game shut-out for starting pitcher Nick Dreifuerst when an overthrow advanced a single to second base and the following batter ground-rule doubled.  Dreifuerst allowed 1 run on 7 hits and a walk, and picked up his second victory of the season.  Game 12  Summary   W- N Dreifuerst  L-  T Gollhardt

(7/1)  Aubrey Kooistra gave up 12 runs on 13 hits and 5 homeruns to take the first loss the Cacahuetes have seen since playoff time last year.  The short-handed and slightly wounded Cacahuetes tried to spark a late inning comeback against the bullpen with no success.  - Game 9 Summary    W- Gollhardt  L- Kooistra

In game two of Tuesday night's double-header the Cacahuetes rebounded well against the Pirates behind the pitching of Andy Prisland who gave up only 2 runs on 2 hits.  He walked 8, but struck out 11 and picked up his fourth victory of the season.  The Cacahuetes managed 7 runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull of a late inning run-rule, 12-2.
Game 10   Summary    W- Prisland  L- Watson

(6/25)  There will be NO wiffleball game on Wednesday June 25th due to rain likelihood.  I don't want my computer and camera equipment damaged in a sudden downpour.  The radar doesn't look so good.

(6/21)  A Saturday triple-header - not much beats the wiffle.  Saturday started with consecutive losses for T-Bone each 16-6.  MPNW put up strong numbers in the first game and the Cacahuetes behind pitcher A Prisland struggled early on giving up 6 runs off of homers to B Schultz and M Hemsing.  The Cacahuetes rallied behind the bats of the father-son connection, A Kooistra and M Kooistra, to win their 3rd straight.  A Kooistra hit 3 HR and drove in 4 runs.  Saturday finished with another close game between the MPNW and the Pirates.  Lucas Wilson pitched very hit or miss, striking out a fair share but also walking in many runs.

(6/19) T-bone and Cacahuetes pull of close ones againts last years runner-up, the Pirates.  T-bone emerged victorious 11-6, and the Cacahuetes 15-3.  Both games were extremely close until late in the game.  Fielding errors hurt the Pirates heavily in Game 3.  On a positive note for the Pirates, they were able to put up runs against A Prisland dealing him his first earned runs in a regular season game in his career.

Game 3 Summary

W- A Prisland (2-0)

Game 4 Summary

(6/16)  All Tuesday Games postponed until Thursday June 19th.

(6/15) Team #4 has been assembled:  B Schultz, 2-3 Lubachs, C Friese, C Krueger, J Lampe, 3 Hemsings.  I'm too hesitant to make these 10 guys into 2 teams due to the likelihood of no-shows.  Team 4 will play Tuesday, June 17th.

(6/14) For those who remember, last years opening day turned out ugly.  Hardly anybody showed up and a exhibition game was played instead.  This year we had a dramatically different result.  Not only one game, but two games were played on this gorgeous afternoon: an offensive slugfest to start the day and a close one to finish it.

The Cacahuetes held on to their early lead after giving up 7 late runs to win 10-7.  A Prisland pitched well, A Kooistra looked a little rusty on the mound however did manage to put out a rocket HR to left field.

W - A Prisland (1-0)
L - T Gallhardt (0-1)
Summary

The Pirates put up some big numbers in the first inning and maintained a steady lead throughout Saturday's first game to pick up their first victory 24-14.  M Planton hit 2 HR, one of which was a Grand Slam.  Adam Murray of the MPNW also put out a Grand Slam deep to left.  And the third Grand Slam of the game was hit by N Dreifuerst who had 9 RBI on the day.

W- N Dreifuerst (1-0)
L - T Murray (0-1)
Summary

(6/12)  Lines have been painted in preparation for Saturday.

(6/11) Website paid for -- Web Gems from 2002 Available online again.   Also... I finally got time to sit down with a list of names and team possibilities.  Everyone should know when they play this weekend by Friday, sorry its late, but its the best I can do since so few took it upon themselves to register a team.

(5/25) Yesterday's preseason matchup goes to B Schultz.  After a rocky start A Prisland came in for relief to preserve the win for Schultz.  Big numbers were put up both with the bat and on the mound for Prisland, which is certainly no big surprise.  D Planton also performed well and looks to get back into the swing of things after a serious ankle injury last season.

(8/17)  The Cacahuetes defeated the Monsters in the best of three  series to move on to the World Series on Sunday.  A Prisland allowed his first runs of the year, but  he pitched well enough to pick up both of the Cacahuetes victories.  The Monsters managed to grab the second game of the series by a score of 7-2 as the 3rd and 4th men of the Cacahuetes pitching roster were forced to pitch.  Prisland came back strong in the third game to lead the Cacahuetes to the victory 8-2.
